Our principles

Responsible lending

The standards we apply when reviewing applications, so customers only borrow what they can reasonably afford to repay.

1. Borrow only what you can afford

We assess whether repayments fit comfortably within a borrower's income and essential spending. Affordability checks are a central part of every application review.

2. Clear costs, up front

Before any agreement, we explain the annual percentage rate (APR), the monthly instalment, the total amount repayable, and any fees that could apply. The estimator on this site shows interest only using a standard annuity formula; a formal quote would include all applicable charges.

3. Credit and risk checks

We carry out appropriate checks, which may include credit-reference and public-record searches, to understand your financial position and ensure the facility is suitable.

4. No pressure, no surprises

  • No guaranteed approval regardless of circumstances
  • No pressure to borrow more than you asked for
  • No fees demanded before a facility is paid out
  • All costs explained in writing before you commit

5. If you are struggling with debt

If your circumstances change, contact us as soon as possible. In the Netherlands, free and confidential help is also available through your municipality's debt counselling service (schuldhulpverlening) and organisations such as the NVVK. Seeking help early nearly always leads to better outcomes.
